After being an athlete for 20 years, I thought climbing would be a piece of cake.

Like most new climbers, I could muscle my way up V1s and V2s, but the moment I touched a real V3 I couldn't even start.

No matter how strong I was, climbing felt like a mystery.

The one day, a mentor watched me struggle on a V5 and said:

“The first rule of climbing is opposite hand and foot”

That single idea changed everything.

I realized that while I didn’t know much about climbing, I knew a lot about movement from years of training as an athlete.

So I started experimenting.

The climbing gym became my lab and I was the guinea pig.

I began translating movement principles into climbing - and everything started to click.

Soon, I was not only improving quickly, but helping others do the same.

I started sharing what I learned on YouTube and coaching climbers directly.

Today, many of my athletes have gone on to compete at Youth Nationals, with some qualifying for Open Nationals - and one becoming a National Champion and Joining Team USA.
